We all have ‘wanderlust’ and have traveled extensively, literally from ‘Tenerife to Timbuktu’, by train, plane, car, boat, bicycle and foot. We have snorkeled and sunbathed, climbed mountains, white water rafted, wine-tasted, whale watched, been on safari, fished & dived, read books under shady trees, taken self-drives, seen city sights, wined and dined, lived with locals, in simple cottages, luxury hotels, tents, ocean liners and, if we haven’t been there or seen it, we quite literally ‘know a man (or woman) who has!’

Our reputation for superb service, along with our expertise has earned us recognition by the Sunday Times ‘Britain?s Best Travel Agent’, and ‘Who Can You Trust to Get Your Holiday Right?’ Mail On Sunday ‘One Of The Best Travel Agents in The Country’ and The Observer ‘Honeymoon Specialist’.

We have specialist accreditations with the Tourist Boards of Canada, Australia, South Africa, East Asia, Cayman Islands, Jamaica, Bahamas, Bermuda, Hong Kong and Dubai. We have three Cruise Specialists on board.

Journeys à la Carte offers a very personal approach, unrivalled knowledge and honest impartial advice.

Margaret May

Margaret has over 35 years experience in travel and tourism, much of it in Africa, where, for many years, she lived and worked in Zambia’s Luangwa Valley.

Journeys à la Carte was started, literally, from the kitchen table in 1995. Margaret’s contagious passion for travel and for getting it absolutely ‘right’ has enabled her to build the ‘Journeys Team’ into ‘Britain’s Best Travel Agent’ (Sunday Times)

She has ‘traveled the world’, experiencing an amazing variety of destinations. Her in-depth knowledge has earned her recognition from the Tourist Boards of many countries. She has earned many trade accolades including Long-haul Consultant of the Year, The Enterprise Award and Agent Achievement Awards. Clients nationwide benefit from Margaret’s enthusiasm for ensuring that they get the best out of their holidays.

When not eating, sleeping and thinking ‘Journeys à la Carte’ Margaret can usually be found at an airport checking in for a flight to yet another far-flung destination!

Bernadette Taylor

Bernadette joined Journeys in 1998. Her knowledge of the travel industry is extensive and in addition she is in charge of the back office where her meticulous attention to detail holds the business and its finances together.

Bernadette keeps a tight hold on the office purse strings, and is also our resident ‘Agony Aunt’ !

 Sue Richardson

Sue joined Journeys à la Carte in March 2001 after nearly 10 years with one of the High Street Agencies, and still cannot believe the difference that working for a ‘Real Travel Agent’ has made to her! She has traveled with her family to many parts of Europe, and since joining Journeys à la Carte has branched much further afield.

Sue is passionate about her job, (and ‘in love’ with Italy). She has used her impressive breadth of knowledge to acquire an array of specialist qualifications and revels in tailor-making and working with Journey’s portfolio of Specialist Tour Operators.

We think Sue should be nominated for the ‘World’s Most Glamorous Granny’ !!

Claire Hunt

Claire commenced work for Journeys as part of her Tourism Degree Course and has been with us full time since graduating in 2002. Her desire to travel, have new experiences and meet people is insatiable. She absorbs knowledge…. and uses it to the fullest advantage, winning the Long Haul Consultant of the Year and Britain’s Best Specialist Travel Agent. She has a passion for Africa and also specialises in Australasia. When not researching exotic worldwide locations for work, she holidays in Greece and Ibiza!!

When she doesn’t have her head in travel, she can be found in the stands supporting her beloved Stoke City Football Club!

Melanie Sallis

Mel joined Journeys in 2004 after qualifying in Travel and Tourism as a mature student.

She now holds Aussie Specialist, Canada Counsellor, Fundi (South Africa), Dubai Expert and Adventure Specialist qualifications, and has traveled extensively.

As a one parent family, she is delighted to see herself and her children featured in a leading adventure travel brochure.

Samantha Riley

Our latest recruit is Samantha who has been in travel for 17 years. She has fitted in perfectly with the ‘Journeys Team’ and has added yet more in-depth knowledge to our already highly experienced group. Sam enjoys being able to nurture her clients and introduce them to new destinations.

People are becoming accustomed to seeing Samantha zip down the country lanes in her MG sports car!

Lynne Brown

Having been in travel all of her working life, Lynne knows a thing or two about finding her customers the holiday that they will remember.  She is originally from Canada and brings with her some typical Canadian generosity, friendliness and quirky mannerisms.

She knows the hotels of Sharm el Sheikh inside and out, as the Icelandic ash cloud made it rather difficult for her to leave!  Her favourite destinations include Thailand, Dubai and (surprisingly, despite her bad luck) Egypt, whether it’s a cruise down the Nile or relaxed beach holiday.

Not only is she great at relaxing, she isn’t a bad worker either! Lynne strives to get the best deal she can for all her clients.
